Dear Tractor Relay participant,

Welcome to the first ever Tractor Relay Across Nebraska. As Segment Leaders of The Cozad to North Platte run June 7 we want to give you a little sample of what we have planned.
We will start out Thursday morning 8 AM June 7 at the Cozad 100th Meridian Museum with the Cozad Ambassadors serving breakfast. It will give you a chance to see the Museum too where the “Quilts of Valor” will be on display. There is a large parking area across from the Museum we can use as a staging area. 9AM is the scheduled departure time to head up Hwy 30 to our first stop, the Pony Express Station at Gothenburg where they will have coffee and donuts ready for us (10-11AM) They have storytellers who interpret the Stations history and make it interesting. Noon should find us safe in Brady for a lunch provided by the local businesses. They are planning a hamburger cookout with all the trimmings. The 100 block of Market St will be closed off so we can park our tractors in the middle of the street for people to see. By 2:30 or 3 PM we should be at Maxwell where Ivan Miller will be providing the afternoon rest stop at Miller Repair. We’ll plan to stop there about an hour and then head on the North Platte and supper at the Lincoln County Museum courtesy of Tractor Supply. Envelopes and a commemorative letter will be available to purchase and mail from any group leader along the route. These letters will be carried by the “Tractor Express” and mailed at Lymon NE. I’m including a short list of motels and campgrounds and looking forward to seeing you on the Relay. Until then,
Your June 7 Segment Chairmen,
Howard Raymond howster@nebnet.net

For Cozad stop, I would recommend Roadway Inn. they are a totally redone motel. Phone # 308-784-4900. Helen the manager is real nice & they are American owned.
Also Gothenburg Comfort Suites is offering to provide transportation to Gothenburg & back to Cozad if needed by anyone. This is a new facility too and real nice.

North Platte has numerous Motels and several campgrounds, Information will be included in a visitor packet you will receive at Cozad

For Lisco stop, only 1 location exists....River View Lodge. Phone # is 308-772-3839 or 308-770-0740 Jim or Gwen Jessen, owners. Their normal rates are $ 50, $ 75 & 100 depending upon room choice. The $ 75 & $ 100 rooms are very nice & only 3 years old !

For Scottsbluff area stop...Our motels are Comfort Inn 308-632-7510, Super 8 Motel 308-635-1600 & American Inn 308-632-7108. All include breakfast. American Inn is the cheapest starting at $ 56. which includes taxes.

he must always carry the look of the land as it was.
He can drive his plow through the nigger-wool,
make fields and roads go every way, build him a fine house
and wear the stiff collar, and yet he will always look like the grass where
the buffalo have eaten and smell of the new ground he has trod.
