we made the next trip to Syracuse to see the doctors, thursday. surgeon looked at my shin and said it was coming along satisfactorily. the wound is still open- about 1 1/2"x 3 1/2" or 4" worth of open, that gets a dressing change 2x/day. but it is slowly coming together. dr said 3 weeks for next appt.

then we visited the infectious specialist that has been dealing with the bugs in my leg. most recent blood tests showed NO level of infection. He said there wasn't any need for a followup appt, unless something changed with the wound.

lastly, my GP said that the eliquis would be hanging around another 3 months before evaluation, to avoid repeat of the blood clots i had in november.

i'm cleared to do limited duty in the barn, if i can find saran wrap coveralls to help protect my leg. i'm thinking tyvek like i use for spraying would work.

Good to hear you are progressing. I would be extremely careful going in the barn. Yes, Tyveks would be a good choice on something to minimize exposure, but to add to the safety, tape the bottom of the legs.

Good to see you are healing. When I had the bad bone bruise it took 3 years to get it all healed up. I had to have surgery to remove tissue that had died. Most of my problem was infection at the bone. Nasty stuff to get rid of....James

My cousin's future father-in-law went in for a knee replacement almost a year ago. It got infected, they took out the artificial knee, and he got a new bug in it. He ended up with pneumonia and a hole in his esophagus. When they got him stabilized and woke him up, he stuck around long enough to say he was tired, and say goodbye to everyone. He hadn't walked in over 9 months.
