Hey guys, yes I'm still a kickin. Even paid NE Kirk a visit here awhile ago, but I digress. I stupidly bought a stage 2 Super H without going over every inch of tractor first. Most of obvious casting marks and dates were correct, so I assumed and yes I was an ASS.

Anyway, someone went to a lot of trouble to make it look like the real thing, but its just a plain old Super H with a few issues. I'm looking for a real late SH fuel tank. My understanding is they moved the fuel strainer port to accommodate the hydraulic tank. These tanks might also have two[2] port holes in the bottom so you could use on stage 2 or regular H's. This particular unit has the hyd tank for a SM.

Also need a new front wheel rim 8274DBX with casting date of OCT of "53" Y in the casting code.

Have the water pump apart and can't figure out why it wasn't leaking as it had absolutely no packing material under the gland nut???? Now just trying to come up with the right bearings as IH-Case shows them as being 13mm thick, while everyone else is using 15mm thick bearings. Something not adding up here. So any help in this regard also appreciated. That is way over .125 difference between two bearings. i think the IH_Case site just has the thickness entered wrong.

Lastly, has anyone really looked at the original steering bearing st225bt to see what is so special about them. Replacement is now a ST678. They also are an angular thrust unit, but from what I researched, most of these types of special bearings would only control the thrust one direction, which by my way of thinking won't work right in this gear box. Anyone looked at them to see how they are physically different than a st225b or 6205 or 210041 bearing, which is substituted by most people as its cheaper.

Not restoring, as this will be a work tractor, but still like to do things right.

SKK

I have a bearing book in town I may be able to look those up but it may be a few days. Do you have the part number for the water pump bearing? I can look that up too.
