Spring! And with that comes more building projects. 8) We poured 60 yards of concrete for basement walls today for a new house.

What kind of forms are you using? I am used to seeing Styrofoam (white) forms. I still occasionally go out with my nephew when he is moving houses, and he sits them down on the new foundations. My capacity now is more the "supervisory" type now! Actually the PR person who answers questions from onlookers to keep them from asking my nephew and slowing him down from doing some actual work!! Thanks for sharing.

These are Symons forms.

I don't care much for those styrofoam forms.....

Kirk, with pumper or crane? Whats cement going for there now days? Run a crane in about 1979 and we poured 90 cu yds one day in V I, it cost $90.00 cu yd if you took over 75 cu yd, other wise it was $125.00 cu yd. Cement came from Florida, sand from Portia Rico. Did I say how I hate running cranes.

We used a pumper truck, Bob. Cost was around $120/yard for the 4000 psi mix we used.

We started removing forms yesterday afternoon and got a LOT done. I had a funeral to attend this morning so did not get back to work until 1pm. But after 2.5 hours more work we finished stripping off, cleaning and stacking the rest of the forms. WHEW! After spending the last 6 days lugging those forms around setting them up and tearing down, I am glad that is done!!

It's going to take a lot of sticks to turn that into a house

I was thinking maybe you wish you still worked for the house movers and you could just roll one off onto it, ready made :D

Actually, no, I don't! Granted, it would be much faster, but I actually enjoy carpentry and will relish the challenge!

We are working on the difficult part now, building and setting the trusses to both form the roof and interior room at the same time, but we are making progress nonetheless.

You need an Amish crew! Around here, they get about 75 guys, and have it done in a day!
